I purchased the Bissell 5770 Healthy Home Vacuum cleaner over two years ago from Costco. Prior to the Bissell I had exclusively used a Roomba, which was not robust enough for my needs. I have two cats and a dog and at least half a dozen oversized dust bunnies at any time.
Features
The Healthy Home Vacuum is a standard sized upright vacuum. It has a 12 amp motor and a 15″ wide cleaning path. The vacuum comes with your standard attachments including a crevice tool, a telescoping wand and a brush attachment. It also includes a “TurboBrush,” which is a small attachment that has two spinning brushes enclosed in plastic. It is a bag less vacuum with a large canister in the front to trap the dirt. The vacuum comes equipped with a good sized headlamp on the front of the unit. It features a height adjustment dial with 7 heights to raise and lower the brushes proximity to the floor. There is a brush switch near the vacuums handle which operates a motor to make the brushes spin. The brushes only spin on their own when this switch is activated. The vacuum’s biggest claim to fame feature is it’s “Microban Antimicrobial Product Protection,” which claims to fight mold and mildew. It also has a HEPA filtration system.
The Bad
One of the major negatives of this vacuum is its weight. It weighs 25 pounds, which I find too heavy. I live on two floors and need to carry the vacuum up and down the stairs every weekend. I end up dragging the vacuum most of the way and inevitably bumping the vacuum into the walls and molding along the stairs because I can not easily lift it. In addition to it being heavy it is unwieldy. Because of the heavy weight it would be great if you could use two hands to carry it, but that is just not possible. It needs to be lifted by the handle on the canister and there’s no easy way to use two hands without tripping yourself.
